Every child brings their own interests, strengths and ways of communicating. At Speech and Swallowing Services, we welcome enquiries from families looking for speech and language support in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Penticton. Tell us what you are noticing and what would make everyday communication easier for your child and family. We will help clarify whether an available clinician is a suitable fit.
Support shaped around your child
You might be looking for help because your child is difficult to understand, has trouble expressing their ideas, or finds it challenging to understand language and join conversations. You may also be looking for support with communication at school or at home.
You do not need to know which service to request before contacting us. Share a brief description of what you are looking for, your child's age, and your preferred appointment times. An SLP will review questions about clinical suitability before care is arranged.
Communication support for autistic children
Families of autistic children are welcome to enquire about clinician fit. Our proposed approach is to build on each child's strengths and support communication that matters to them and their family. Goals and approaches should be discussed with the treating SLP, with attention to the child's preferences and participation.
The appropriate clinician and any funding requirements need to be checked individually. Contacting the clinic does not confirm eligibility for a particular funded service.
What happens next?
Send an enquiry with your child's age, a brief reason for seeking support, preferred location or appointment mode, and days/time windows that work for you. Please do not send detailed clinical records through the public enquiry form.
We review the request and clarify clinician fit, appointment options, fees and any funding requirements.
If there is a suitable option, we agree on the appointment details and send a confirmation. An enquiry alone is not a confirmed booking.
The treating SLP discusses assessment and next steps with you. Any ongoing therapy plan, family involvement and progress updates are agreed according to your child's needs.
For Heritage Christian families and school teams
We have enjoyed supporting Heritage Christian families, and we are adding more SLPs to our team. If additional students need assessments or ongoing therapy, or a request has been difficult to place, we would be happy to explore how we can help.
Our clinic already coordinates directly with families after the initial meeting. Let us know what support would be most useful to your team. Before services begin, we clarify clinician availability, funding approval and any agreed reporting arrangements. Information is shared only through agreed, authorized channels.
Appointment locations and availability
Please tell us whether you prefer Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton or virtual appointments. Options depend on the child's needs, clinician and current availability; a preference does not guarantee that a particular location or mode can be offered. We confirm the actual location or virtual arrangements before the appointment.
Fees, funding and reports
We will confirm the proposed service, fees and any separately agreed charges before booking. If a school or another funding program will pay, please let us know so the applicable approval and billing arrangements can be checked. We cannot guarantee reimbursement or program eligibility. Ask us about the reporting your family or school needs so its scope and any charges can be clarified in advance.
